15km from the city is the National Park of La Mata and Torrevieja. the fascinating landscape of the salt pans is one to the most importants salt marshes in Europe. The Park invites to long walks and picnics.

A wonderful landscape and a lively cityscape have made Torrevieja one of the most popular resorts on the Mediterranean coast.
On to the pirate island! This destination can only be reached by boat and only during the season between May and October. The island of Tabarca is just 2 kilometers long and about 400 meters wide, but it has a colorful history behind it, including pirates and settler whose traces can still be admired in the from of fortified walls, churches and a lighthouse. The island is listed since August 27, 1964 historical monument.
The city is the purest paradise for art lovers and a true favorite among Torrevieja’s day trip destinations as it is famous für the large number of galleries and studios of local artists. In addition to the lively art scene, there is another special feature in Altea – the typical blue tiles of the church roofs, wich make the statue of Slat unique.
The evening in Torrevieja starts at 8pm. From 10pm the beach bars on the promenade should be visited. The marina with its lounge bars and small cafes are a good first stop. You have a drin with your lovely ones and enjoy sitting together. If you are in the mood for a night of dancing, visit the large clubs and discos at the end of the city center, around 3am the party starts for young and old.
In and around Torevieja there are many shops. If you feel like shopping, you will find a little paradis. First of all, the city center itself, with the spacious and modernized pedestrian zone, offers a large selection of many small shops. From boutiques to shoes stores to hair salons and beauty salons, If you fancy a stroll, you can do so on the promenade with its many small wooden stalls, where you can buy everything from clothing to jewelry to electronics. You will find the most beautiful and largest shopping center, La Zenia Boulevard, in Orihuela Costa with a total area of 161,000 m² and with over 150 shops a huge selection.
